"Please mind the gap." - Tube station
9 am walking tour of City of London with Warren.
Well my schedule said 8:30 am so my flat got on the tube by 8 :10 am going toward Bank Station -thinking we might be late... Got there right at 8:30 am and oh um no one was there... So I called Peter (one of the professor's) and apparently the tour was changed to 9am and we didn't get that schedule. Cool. Then it was Bank Holiday so NOTHING was open. Literally nothing. So we stood in the tube station to keep warm because it was legit in the 40s. Then we see the whole rest of the group coming off the tube and everyone is like "Are we late????" & it is 8:40 am... so obviously they didn't know the tour got changed to 9am either. Great communication. It's ok though I talked to our professors and they thought we had the New Schedule.
Toured all around "The City of London" which is only one square mile (back in the day). Saw lots and lots of history.
- The Monument: tallest monument of the world (I felt like our tour guide was always saying the is the best in the world, tallest in the world, largest in the world, etc. hahah)
- London Bridge
-Tower of London (saw it- have not gone inside yet)
- Leadenhall Market = Diagon Alley (Harry Potter)
- *Lloyd's : where everything is insured (Beckham's legs, cars...)
- Bank of England: back has museum and you can hold a block of gold in your hand
- Right of Exchange
- Guild Hall: Roman Ampitheater
- Roman Towers
- Dome of England: 1st Dome
***Went to St. Paul's Cathedral!!!!
- Arthur Duke of Wellington: found 42 battles, defeated French, Wellington boots
Tuesday 6/1 --> (16 more days til my BIRTHDAY!!!)
Class at 9 - got lost... then had another tour with the same guy from Monday, Warren. Went to Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace!! & took a Coach bus tour around London's main attractions. It was raining and gross out but I still loved the whole tour. I could have stayed in Westminster all day!! It was gorgeous- so much history. One weird thing: many famous writers, scientists, poets, people are buried there-- did you know Charles Darwin is buried there along with Isaac Newton. Charles Darwin wrote about Evolution... so why is he buried in a place of God? He did not want to be buried there - he wanted to be buried with his brother and wife but that did not happen...
Random fact: There were monks on the soles of a famous guys feet that was buried there and they were praying- praying for his soul. - Get it ? :)
