Woke up, sat on my suitcases, zipped them shut, said goodbye to my hostel room, me and my 2 suitcases and a large backpack walked up a mountain (ok a large inclined hill...), walked 15 min to the train station (aka rail) , sat down on the train... another city here i come! LONDON!!! 4.5 hours go by with me on my computer the whole time because there was internet!! YAY. Time flew by!
So we arrived at about 1:30-2 pm at London Kings Cross!!! Platform 9 and 3/4 was a Harry Potter Landmark there butttttttt we were rushed to catch our Coach bus so I didn't get to see it! :( Our coach bus took us to our flat in Angel, London. (niceee) Now it is 5 girls in 1 flat. I have a room with 2 other babes = Nicole and Jenna and the other room is Brooke and Chelsea. Sweet roomies! Nicole is in my sorority so I've known her awhile and that is why we requested to be together :)
So, we unpacked (what a relief!) first. Then we all wanted to wander down the streets and find a grocery store. I suppose we went the wrong direction because 30 minutes later we cannot find one. Of course, we ask someone and he tells us to go a wee bit further and there will be a Tescos. I bought some fresh fruit, vegetables, and then I found a little, tiny corner of "free from" gluten and dairy items. Don't get me wrong, I was satisfied. New, unknown items I have not seen before in the states - I stayed in that little corner for 20 minutes mesmerized trying to figure out what I wanted, what I could afford, etc. So I got some gluten free bread, chocolate muffin, gluten and dairy free chocolate... and i decided I would just come back because everyone was ready to leave. I also got a re-usable bag to carry for 90 p. Total cost was 27 pounds! Not too shabby! I had 2 large bags that were quite heavy for a 20 min. walk back. But it was fine and no bags broke on the way back which I am thankful for :) So we all unpacked our groceries and made dinner.
Us girls (16) decided since we had to wake up at 7 am tomorrow we were going to go see a movie instead of going to bars. We went and saw Sex and The City!!! SOOOOO GOOD!! Really funny! And guys~ don't be ashamed to go- there were a group of guys there plus the guy next to me was laughing a lot during it! Some things I noticed there:
- Way more expensive late Sunday night (the exact time we were there)
- less expensive during the day Mon-Thurs. (obvi)
- about 3 pound discount if Student
- So my ticket cost 7.60 pounds while a regular ticket cost 10.70 pounds
- We got to CHOOSE our seats (right upper, left upper, lower) -- middle upper was VIP and cost 1 pound extra (ridiculous)
- They are way ahead of us with technology, style...everything
- Concession : Icecream (ben & jerry's), milkshakes, popcorn (can choose sweet or salty), beer and wine
Movie was great- totally recommend it :) Got out at about 11:15 pm and walked back to our flat- passed out around 12:30 am
