Monday 6/7 Bath
Took a Coach bus to Bath today with my group. Left at 8:50 and got there at 10:45. Random: Watch for Moose Crossing (instead of Deer Crossing)
Went to the Roman Baths!! So incredible that there is HOT Spring water underneath the ground leading to different areas. SO very odd but wonderful :) Then we went on a tour of the town (history). Bath is only a holiday city . Only 5% of the town is involved with the manufacturing. Wow.
Things I saw:
Only remaining city wall
Beaufort Square
Jane Austin (writer) stayed here
Queen's Square
Lions everywhere - auctioned off at the end of the year to be given to a charity (just like Nags Head & horses) - In London it is Elephants :)
Royal Crescent 1867 - 30 house; 114 columns; First house is a Museum, Center house is a 5 star Hotel, 5 of the houses are houses that people live in, and the rest are apartments.
There is a big wall/step outside of the Crescent so farm animals cannot step beyond it and looking from the Royal Crescent you cannot see the step. It is called the Ha-ha wall because people would walk and not see it then trip and fall... haha...
5 trees (115 years old) = protected the houses from WWII when Bath was bombed
Beachen Cliff
Pulteney Bridge!
